The 2019 Oakland Get-Together is going to be held at Wingham, near Taree, on the mid-north coast of N.S.W. Our host venue for the weekend will be the Wingham Golf Club Motor Inn, a beautiful, quiet and picturesque venue a few kilometres away from the hectic pace of Taree and the Pacific Highway.
The weekend will kick off on Friday with an evening barbeque at the hotel, where we will all have a chance to unwind, catch-up and relax before the next two days of activities. For this evening and over the weekend, please pack your picnic chairs, thermos and mugs; we'll cover many of your opportunities to nibble.
Saturday after breakfast will start off with visits to the Wingham Museum and Wingham Brush – a nature reserve in a pocket of remnant rainforest along an easy walking, wheelchair friendly boardwalk. Following this, we will head across to the coast, to Saltwater, an aboriginal nature reserve, where we will have a relaxing picnic lunch. After lunch, we are planning to drive south to the Nabiac Motorbike Museum to have a look through their excellent collection, before returning to the Motor Inn to freshen up prior to our evening meal and AGM. The evening meal will have an Hawaiian theme – so dig out your old Hawaiian shirts, board shorts (bikinis???) - but please – NO grass skirts!
Sunday will see us heading back to the coast at Crowdy Head and its lighthouse; a great scenic location, perfect for a view of the coastline and learning about the history of the area. It's also a top location for a photo shoot to get that 'special' photo of your car. Lunch will be at the Coopernook Pub, followed by a drive back to our place where you are invited to look through our collection of cars and boats, or wander around the yard to try to spot some of the wildlife. Sunday night we're leaving free at the moment. There are a number of nearby venues and options for dinner available.
An Entry form and further details will be available here soon.
